While we provide many direct integrations with a number of eCommerce platforms, we understand that there are some platforms for which this service is not yet available.

While we’re working on this, we have made it possible to create your shipments by importing your orders into the RDS eCommerce portal using a .csv file.

There are a number of eCommerce platforms that support order exporting in .csv format. If you’d like some more information on this, please feel free to contact us, and will be able to give you up-to-date guidance on whether this functionality is supported by your eCommerce platform.

In order to upload your .csv into the RDS eCommerce portal, you’ll need to ensure that your .csv file is valid and UTF-8 encoded. You can always select this option, unless you are using Microsoft Excel, if you select save as, followed by choosing the correct option.

If you are using Microsoft Excel, simply choose to save your file in a windows comma separated format, which will ensure that your file is saved correctly.

Domestic and International shipments require a specific number of fields, within your .csv file, in order to create correct shipments. Don’t worry about the order of the columns, as this can be configured correctly and saved locally in the system according to the environment/s, that you use, using our mappers feature.

We’ve outlined the data necessary in a CSV file, to create either domestic or international batch shipments below;

Domestic shipments
First Name
Last Name
Address
City
Country
Weight

In addition to the above fields, in order to create valid international shipments and to reduce any delays at customs, we will need the following information within the CSV file that you upload:

International Shipments
Contents type
Invoice number
Product SKU code
Product description
Product value
Amount of items
Net weight of items
Harmonised system code (you can find the full list of HS codes here)
Country of origin

To ensure that carriers can get in contact with the recipients, in case of shipping updates – it is also wise to include an email address and telephone number in addition to the above. It may also be wise to include a description on the shipment, perhaps to identify yourself as the shipper.

If you need any help with your CSV files, please get in contact with our support team, who will be happy to assist you.
